Everyone wants a bargain and with all the sales why pay normal prices for common sale items like clothing? But you don’t just have to watch out for the sales. Just knowing the right time to buy as stocks changeover with the seasons can save you big money.
Here’s a quick guide to discount shopping for some of the bigger ticket items:
Air-conditioners
Winter is the off-season. Obviously. Prices are lower and installation faster because there’s less demand.
Airline tickets
Sign up to airline email lists and be the first to know of the next cheap ticket sale. They’ll let you know in advance so you can be planning and be ready! If you’re planning on going away during a popular time, get in early. Leaving til the last minute can see you paying more for the flight.
If you’re going to be flying domestically in the US take note that the airlines over there tend to release their cheapest tickets 21 days in advance and fill vacancies with 14 days in advance.
Barbecues
Summer stock is cleared in autumn and winter so then is the time to grab a bargain barbie.
Bedding
Look for sales items from January to March and again from June to August as new stock arrives for each winter and summer.
Bicycles
Ready for the summer and Christmas market new lines arrive in October. That makes September clearance time for old stock.
Camping gear and outdoor clothing
Because camping is so much more popular in summer, look for end of summer sales from autumn. Cold-climate gear can be found on sale in spring.
